Mind Body Approach

There are people who are suspicious of the mind body approach and wonder if this is one of those experiential "things" again. I understand your concerns. However, body and mind are inseparable and therefore many trauma specialists such as van der Kolk, Daniel Siegel, and Scaer have pointed out the importance of this approach in trauma therapy.

According to Candace Pert, the body carries memories, even in its blood cells, which constantly give out messages and communicate as thought forms or feelings. If we ignore or do not address these internal cellular memories, the body only knows how to get our attention by exhibiting physical and emotional symptoms. These symptoms are tools that the body-mind uses to cope with overwhelming situations and to converse with us

By exploring these cues, you give the body and mind a chance to be heard, to be healed, and to grow in healthier, more productive and satisfying ways. You are then able to connect to new inner resources accessing our own wisdom, power, intuition, strength, and innate potentialities so that you can live a life you have been longing for.
